Strange reactions from people?

I went into a post, packaging and magazine shop yesterday to send off some stuff I sold in an auction.

I asked for a box to send it in and the woman behind the counter stated that they had no boxes for me but in a manner and tone that suggested that she suspected that I was a bum and wanting the box to live in......right in front of their sympathy cards in the Hallmark section.

Have people been noticing nutty reactions from people in public lately or is it just on this end of the Earth?

She didn't say it in so many words but it kind of came off like "No, oh no, this shop doesn't exist, it's a figment of your imagination, we have no boxes but there is a nice police man right down the block whom might have a box that you can put yourself...erm...I mean your stuff in."

You mean if I stop to think about it, examining the situation without me, I might come to realize that the shop really wasn't there?

Naw, I'm crazy but this crazy is coming from their end this time.

In fact I'd imagine if I were to walk past that shop today, all the windows and doors would be lined and covered in tinfoil and there would be a sign with a picture of my face in the center of 'No' symbol.
