20/M/Edinburgh, United Kingdom Join Date: May 2006 | I was talking to someone in the pub last night who described himself as being 'straight edge'. He said he doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, doesn't do drugs, is opposed to abortion and is a hardcore vegan. He said it was some sort of hardcore music movement.
Now I'm trying not to be judgmental, but I couldn't help but find it a little bit weird. I started to wonder does that show us something about our society? Perhaps straight edginess should be the 'normal' way to be. Whats thoughts?

If it wasn't for the five pints I'd already drank I think I'd have died of boredom.

I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs, but doesn't mean I want to be straight edge. That sounds awfully pompous.

See thats the thing, I know a few people who don't drink, smoke or do drugs but I never really realised there was a movement of people who have this as part of their living. I really felt like I was being judged for drinking as well, as if there is something immoral about it.

I thought Straight Edge was only no drinking, smoking or drugs. I never heard of the vegan and anti-abortion aspect of it.
I was about to post this exact same thought.

I want to be a crooked corner. I'm addicted to caffeine..does that make me crooked?
I'm totally a crooked corner. I'm currently looking for a roach to bong.
STONER TRANSLATION: I'm going to smoke the remains of a joint in a glass... bong.
