To move to another planet, not only do we have to build the U-Haul, but we also have to bring everything to rebuild a shelter to protect us from an inhospitable, barren environment.

If we have to build our bubble cities to protect us from the outside - why don't we just do it here?

And isn't the gov't already doing that underground, out west?

To live in an environment with limited, controlled resources, will also require a new model of society.

Think about how controlled ones life is while living on a ship or in a submarine. You don't have the freedoms and choices you have when living on land.

For sure. Why take all of the expense to travel to & build a scary in-hospitable planet when we could be, & are, creating one here?

In all of these dire warnings, where do we address the behavior that put us into this position to begin with? So we find a new planet (sure thing you betcha) and we go there and we just start this pattern all over?

Wouldn't it be easier to ya know, address it here... maybe look into massive birth control, alternative energy sources, clean/green infrastructure etc. Apparently it's just easier to throw the baby out with the bath water.

the reality of like send 100 people in suspend animation to mars that 20 years from now. not know the ship will survive the trip, or even life support does malfunction would occurs to outside forces or within.

how to convince at these a billion or more people to our governments through the world to sign up for more less theory to another galaxy to star over. even if there is possible that the moon might be the best place to this project. or the beginning to colonization this project.

it would more than 100 years or more, be realistic get ready, the selection of the right people, nobody want nazi's sleepers in this mist, or trump's relatives on the ship.

does the wealth has first crack this selection, which government runs this whole thing, would un or another powerful organization to control the governments.

realistic and the hard fact, climatic change or a nuclear bomb will wipe out the human race in the next 100 to 200 years from now.

What...? Make slight adjustments to our way of living that might seem drastic at first but in the long haul lead to the overall benefit and longevity of the human race? PFFFTTT!!! f*** that! I need more gasoline so I can drive my solid gold Hummer. It's got 38 gallons to the mile for maximum efficiency.

i think the closest thing we have now, in space, we are build a space station that might be a right thing to start colonization. it is too small have a lot of people on it.

we start travel beyond our universe to find similar earth to colonization. that will long shot to reach, try a suitable planet in the universe, over a billions of people to population. not be reality, we probably run out of time.

we can one shot to achieve maybe one large spaceship that use suspend animation that could maybe hold a couple of thousand of people.

there is too many risk against us to try a long shot that probably even the spaceship to survive, would the people survive, too.

the tv show, " stargate sg1 " would be practice in sense, that a stargate that for travel through space and time to find suitable planets for us live on.

even the long shot, use the stargate possible let the earth through a giant stargate in space to go another galaxy. if that can science fiction was real.

if it was practically, even hawking could come up with scientifically theory to launch a spaceship through the black hole. if the ship survive go though the black hole. the odds if the ship go through a white hole and survive into another galaxy. then actually land on earth similar to ours. that would incredible.

only a question is left, the people that colonization this new world. did we or did we have the right to start the human race on this new world, look what the human race did on earth?

remember, did adam and eve left paraside, by their own free will or did god tell them not welcome to stay in paraside?

This is likely what's going to end up happening if any of us do survive.

Yeah, but... which Religion and Political view are they taking with them? Man can't live on bread alone. Someone will want to rule... with lots of rules to rule them all. Lol!

Perhaps our entire species suffering a massive cataclysm within the next 100 years is a bit pessimistic, but the man has a point. We are a destructive bunch and the thing we seem to enjoy / are best at / work hardest to achieve, is our own self destruction.

He could very well be right, but I hope not.

As for our species need to find another home among the stars, well, that's an inevitability that we've known about for a long time due to astronomical occurrences that will simply destroy the earth lock stock and smoking barrel in the fullness of time.

For a start, the moon is drifting away from earth at a rate of about 3cm per year. Not a lot and nothing is going to happen in a hurry, but in the long term this will have serious repercussions for our planetary ecosystems such as tides. Don't underestimate the importance or consequences of that for our planet.

Another problem is going to be the sun. Come on, you all learned this in High School. The sun will eventually run out of hydrogen and start burning helium instead. When that happens our planet will no longer be in the Habitable Zone of the solar system. All the water will boil away into space, all life will become extinct and eventually, as the sun swells larger and larger (a consequence of helium fusion) it will become a giant that will engulf the inner planets.

OK, so the latter isn't going to happen for about 4 or 5 billion years but life on earth will be extinct long before that.

We've got a while yet before bugging out of the old homestead becomes an imperative, but I figure we'd better start thinking about it and more importantly, start DOING something about it. NOW.
