i say yes, ive just lost a very close friend who was gay,he was with his partner for 20 yrs and in that time ive gotten married twice, had 2 kids and still being hounded by the 1st hubby cos he still loves me,but our living friend hasnt even got a simple piece of paper i.e a wedding certificate for all those yrs they shared, knowing they couldnt be together as they would have wished for.

A great man once told me,
I was beutiful,
SO I MARRIED HIM.
Now he tells me every day.

from a governmental point of view, its only a legal recognition of two peoples decision to combine their resources economically.
so why the hell not?
as for church weddings, the church can't be forced to allow same sex marriages within their religion,

even if they are prejudiced and wrong.

john howard and george bush are just useing church reasons not to allow same sex marriages to go ahead. why? because they are christians. but , this is a direct violation of the seperation of the church and state.

definetly should be legalized. people should be able to live their own lives and everybody should be happy with the choices they make.

I believe that marriage is a religious institution and according to the first amendment, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." If they want to have a gay union have the same rights of marriage, I have no problem with it.

That doesnt explain why gay marriage shouldnt exist, just why you don't think the government should decide.

Read it again, jmo. Marriage is a religious institution. The government cannot make laws respecting an establishment of religion. In order for gay marriage to be legal congress would have to make a law respecting this religious practice, which violates the first amendment.
