When I posted about the incident yesterday, someone said it wouldn't have happened if guns were legalised. If his gun wasn't licensed, he probably wouldn't have had it to hold the shoot-out.

A great deal of gun crime is done with legal guns
you can't deem someone unworthy of owning a gun unless they've done something to suggest they shouldn't own one
....like shoot a bunch of people.

under the current system this is no failing like giving a gun to a loon or something.

Exactly. Gun control reduces the risks of potential Hamilton's getting the gun to go Hamilton with.

So? Do you actually think he wouldn't of gotten a gun off of the streets or from a gun show? It's a lot easier to do than you think.

It was a spur of the moment crime so no I dont think he would have told his wife to just hang about while he nipped to the shops to nick a gun

Not really. I'm still against them after Dunblane and the countless other shootings you here of in the U?S either from a legally owned gun or a stolen gun. Gun crime's not as big a problem over here.

Well the results of the post mortum say he had no shotgun wounds to his body..
He received bullet wounds to at least five areas of his body and at least two different types of bullet...

Did the police go in and play 'shoot em up' with this guy?

Probably. He was a potential threat since he had an offensive weapon and was refusing to surrender or let them get near. They would have had to neutralise the threat. It's sad though.

I don't know who would say it would never happen if gun laws were looser, but maybe those that he targeted had guns he would have been stopped sooner.
