From what I understand, the sex forums were shut down because it was in violation of certain internet laws regarding exposing minors to inappropriate content, right? So if the sex forum was set to only show up for people whose profile age is 18+, and remain hidden for those younger, that would solve that right? I know it's not hard to change ones age within the profile, but I think most keep their age accurate for the most part.

Ehh I think the sex forum is a bit too much. No need to get that gritty in here. And I think maturity plays a huge level...18 doesn't mean "mature" sometimes.

But I guess the policy of "if you don't like it, don't read it" can apply.

2 things:

1) Edit profile, Personal, change birth year to 1990, hello adult section.

2) A forum specifically dedicated to "adult" talk would essentially invite people to talk about these things, leading to a large amount of racy talk.

There are a ton of internet sex forums. TFS doesn't need to be one of them.

I'm pretty sure that there are forums out there on this massive thing called the World Wide Web where you can discuss sex in the most graphic terms and use all the profanity you want! TFS is that not kind of site; people need to get over the fact that the sex forum was shut down, and go somewhere else for their, er, pleasure

I never suggested a cybering forum! I just mean a forum where you don't have to censor yourself quite so much as it is now.

I think she meant people really aren't mature enough to have a decent sex discussion without it turning into nastiness.

It's still possible to have those discussions in pm's along with friends only journals. (well if your friends list is limited.)

I appreciate that, and I know that's not what you meant. However, it's been tried and tested or the sex forum would still be up. There's always a way around restrictions on the internet; someone will always see sometihng they're not meant to. Even with Facebook . . .no one under the age of 13 is meant to sign up, but all you have to do is lie about what year you were born. One of my cousins has been on it since she was 11. It's the same kind of thing.

I didn't find that to be the case when the sex forums were up. Anyway, I think the law that triggered the shut down of the sex forum has since been repealed anyway.

The sponsors did not like it.

Without sponsors we have no TFS.
