I've read some books by Stephen King and I liked them all but the strange thing is that I often forget names of books or movies even if I find it so interesting. One of his books I can remember as most influential was about a dark hotel called Panorama haunted with bad spirit and the hotel itself was like a ghost or something. Reeding it was like I was really there.

I read King from way back...my favorite is Pet Cemetery. But, I also like The Talisman that he co-wrote with Peter Straub. After Gereald's Game I really lost interest in King...that was the most BORING book I had read in some time.

I moved on to Dean Koontz...he is not as off the wall weird as King, but is very creative in building characters and story lines. Lightning by Koontz was really good...I hope they make it into a movie.

That sounds a lot like "The Shining". If you check out the endings of "The Dark Half" and "Needful Things", they both end the exact same way...the antagonist flies off into infinity. Oooh. I think King was running low on creative juices about that time. I have heard some of his later stuff has gotten better...kind of back to the original King. I just haven't ventured back to King, yet.

He also wrote a few novels under the pseudonym of Richard Bachman (Running Man, Thinner) and one short story as John Swithen.

Gerald's Game was not boring. In fact, I was really impressed with King's ability to get into the mid of his main character. As to Koontz...typically his books folow the same pattern over and over again. The majority of his books are, in my opinion, dull as dishwater. I've tried reading many of his books and have to force myself to finish them.

read a lot of Stephen Kings books. Wihtout a doubt 'It' the one about the clown is excellent, a good read from beginning to end. Other good ones would be Salems Lot, Misery and of course The Shining.
