Sorry Inkblob i gotta run with Vizzy on this. I like Geralds game because it's dark not because of a monster/ghost/unfortunate mental illness it's dark because of the lead characters isolation and own fears and paranoia I loved Geralds Game and have since recommended it to King readers who've fallen out with his writing.

I have to say i think the ever popular Shining is one of his worst and i've abandonned it many times after attempting to read it.

Thank you. Yes..it's the isolation that makes it dark.

Has anyone read Lisey's Story? Also good. It's a love story, King style.

I love the diversity of his work. People call him a horror writer, but he's more. He's a fantastic story teller.

Oh and if you like King he has a son writing under the name Joe Hill. His recent book, Heart Shaped Box, is a really good ghost story.

The Stand and Needful Things but I like a lot of his books. Did not like Deloris Clayborn or whatever the title was, boring. I did not even read Misury or see the movie. I do not like things about toturing people.

My very first was the Dead Zone. That book really opened me up to King. I quickly read Salem's Lot. Loved both of them. I loved Bag of Bones.

Cujo, although I'd like to see a version with more of the supernatural horror in it.
Mr. King can be very funny and very sad. He can make a story out of nearly nothing. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is just a girl who's lost, but it's a fine read.
I've enjoyed them all, except the Dark Tower series.

I read that The Girl Who..and it was a good read with right amount of that King way of putting in the surreal. I think I've read pretty much all of his.

Another thing about King is how he can put so much detail in a character's personality. Also in alot of stories he seems to refer or include that other world he uses in the Dark Tower series and the Talisman.

I have read only Pet Sematary. I was so amazed how descriptive he is and how he could put me right there. I could feel the fog, smell what he was decribing. I still can recall how I felt when I read the ending. What a talented author.

No way could the movie do any justice to the book. I have loved so many pets that have died, and the book put that into perspective for me. I could never wish to have them back again, having read the book!

My favs are Night Shift, Skeleton Crew, tommyknockers and Bag of Bones. Read the rest didn't like Rose Matter. Disappointed in the ending of the Dark Towers.

Best Stephen King movie is Children of the Corn. Most movies were terrible.

King's 'on Writing' is an essential for aspiring writers, an insight into the man's technique and life.
