I haven't read a lot of his books, probably around 5 or so. But 'The Stand' is my favorite so far.

My cat Gracie and I love the Mountaineers.

I enjoyed Desperation Nevada alot, it starts off fairly early with a dead and gutted dog on a signpost and just accelerates from there. The Dark Towers I think it was called, a fantasy tale of the wonderously magasized sort, is another good read.
Think my favourite was Bag Of Bones though, most of it goes on in the head of a woman chained to a bed in a small cottage in the middle of the woods. There's Dolores Clairborne, not typical of king but very nicely written. Rose Madder, a nice little tale of love and running for your life on every plane. uh.. I'll stop now.
