33/F/, Singapore Join Date: Jan 2006 | So... does that mean if I'm toothless, bent double, yet have no problem whatsoever with my virility with the help of the many available products in the market - it'd be OK for me to rape someone? That simply doesn't make sense at all to me.
As long as one is perfectly capable of having sexual relations - more so rape someone to satisfy their carnal desires, I think that they should not be exempt, whatever the reasons are. Fine... the gravity of the sentence may not be as harsh as the younger offenders (such as no caning or manual labour)... that I can accept, but to let them off almost scot free is a total abomination! At the very least... they can sit in their cells for the duration of the sentence, I don't see why they shouldn't be capable of doing that! They have the energy to carry out the act... that in itself speaks volumes about their physical well being.
Age should not feature at all in the eyes of the law. A sentence is carried out to serve as a deterrent as well as to punish a person for a crime committed. If the case is such... perhaps I'll wait till I 'come of age' to rape the girl next door. Gloat about it after - "Arrest Me!!! What can you people do? I'd pay the damn fine!" Where IS the logic to that?
In Singapore, offenders above the age of 55 and women are exempt from caning. Just recently, a 65 year old serial rapist (he was a walking abomination - he didn't care if you're male, female, young or old) was sentenced to life in prison. His oldest victim was a 70 year old granny - and his youngest, his 3 year old toddler niece. The little girl died as a result of the attack... and he stuffed her little helpless body underneath a flyover. She wasn't discovered till he confessed to his crimes. He was almost bludgeoned to death when his immediate neighbours found out - saved only by the arrival of the police. Singaporeans are not known for taking the law into their own hands... but I don't blame them if they had killed the devil's incarnate!
He was spared the cane; otherwise a rape sentence would carry a mandatory maximum 12 strokes and a maximum jail sentence of 12 years - but in return, he had to remain behind bars for the rest of his life. Pleading insanity didn't help his case either. Imagine if he were just made to pay a fine and serve a few months in jail... it's a surety that he would not have any qualms about raping the next thing that moves!
The justice system claims to be fair - but since sentences are carried out by humans... sad to say, it is never infallible.

37/F/Smokey Mountains, Tennessee Join Date: Dec 2005 | This is absoluetly Bull f**king s**t!!!! Rape under any age, gender, race or circumstance should be treated with a much higher punishment than just a friggin warning. This is like giving the pervs a friggin license to go out and rape some innocent female, a license to ruin someones life, a license to cause a person to question every piece of clothing they wear out fo the house for the rest of thier life, a license to cause someone to go insane
What the f**k are they thinking????
O.K . you're 70 and raped someone, but hey that's ok at least you did'nt kill them RIght??? Give me a f**kikng break.
Or you're 79 and you raped someone 20 years ago , well no biggie surely they've gotten over that by now , I mean you know it 's been twenty years ago. damit!!!
Lawmakers are trying to play GOD with our lives and I for one don't friggin appreciate it.
I can't imagine anyone getting a warning now listen you just can't go around raping people, bad boy *slap on wrist* and out the door he goes.
IMO Rape is as bad as murder, after all when someone is raped , part of them dies ! The spirit dies!
Do these people not realize that rape is a violent crime or do they not care? These people who are wanting to let them off with a warning should have to sit and watch real footage of actual rapes, then they should have to sit in a room full of rape victims and listen to how it has affected them their whole life, How they can't be totally intament with thier spouses and how it's caused them to lose thier marriage, their self esteem , and their self respect. How the rape f**ked them up so bad that thy can't have kids of their own now. How their scared to go out of the house after dark by themsleves for fear of being raped and hoe they are scared to be home alone. How everytime they close their eyes they see the rapist with is grunchy , nasty , perverted hands all over them.
What has our world come to that we can tell society "if you rape someone you'll just get a warning.
Absolutely utterly ridiculous f**kig bulls**t head up thier a** lawmakers.
