If you take a group of babies from different races, and put them together in a room. Do you think they notice a difference? Of course not. So racism born or taught?

Babies aren't the best example, they're unaware of many things. Racism is environmental though, in my opinion. I noticed it in myself even, when I was younger. Repeating things I didn't understand because I'd heard an adult saying it.

I agree. Until we can look at the situation responsible, stop blaming others for our own actions, and raise our children to look at the world as they should innocently. There will be racism.

I would want to say it's a learned behavior but then if that were true, than I should be a racist as my parents, especially my dad, would have taught me to be that way. But I mostly certainly am not racist. I think really it's a variety of things. The environment they live in, what they have learned by example and certainly any personal trauma can lead to racism. But I do not believe they are born pre-programmed to be racist.

i think maybe babies will notice the difference and people may even naturally prefer others that look like them,

but i think that racism as in - intolerance to other races, or the believe that race determines achievement or any notions of racial superiority is definitely taught.

Racism is learned, but it is very easy to pick up since we have a natural tendency for generalisation and territorialism.

My father was racist my mother was not. You can definitely be taught but children rebel. I rebelled against my father and it made me hate racism even more. Environment is a factor b/c we learn from it as well.

"Repeating things I didn't understand because I'd heard an adult saying it." Sounds like a Learned Behavior...something you were taught.

Even someone who was raised by racists can choose to re-train themselves. No one is forced to be a racist.
