If Michael Jackson was the King of Pop, who do you think the King of Pop is? Do you think there is a female equivalent? Do you think their is a female singer/dancer who would be mourned all over the world if she died?

The only one I can come with is Madonna. She is also the same age as Michael. (I am not wishing anything bad upon her.)

Do you think it is the female mans who make deceased male pop stars even more famous in death? I am thinking of both Elvis and Michael.

As much as i hate to say it Madonna's probably the closest, she, like Micheal, has been making music for ages and she's probably the most famous female artist

Its definatly mainly the women and more specificly american women, that make it so much bigger than it is.
Queen of pop? Supose it is madonna because no one in pop that i can think of has been around as long and has gone on for so long. As for whehter she'll get the reaction the boys did? No she wont because she's got a bit annoying of late and i dont think the americans really have much to do with her now.

Cheese.

It does seem like the women fade from the limelight. There are a lot of old women performers who were really great in their day (Tina Turner, Madonna, Brittney Spears) and while they are still performing, people don't rave over them the way they used to.

Older? Turner is a music Icon. Britney a wiggler who really can't sing.
Madonna, I'm not a fan, but she's far from old.

I'd say that Madonna is probably the closest equivalent we have. Her impact on music, culture and fashion is bigger than any other female music artist I can think of in my lifetime.

Interestingly, unlike MJ and Elvis, she doesn't seem to have succumbed to the drug/alcohol spiral - I don't think either vice has ever been her scene. I wouldn't be surprised if she is still making a huge impact in music in 10 or even 20 years time.

I think Madonna is supposedly an execise fanatic and she is heavily involved in that spiritual movement that begins with a K.

I can sort of understand how MJ's life went off the rails. He came from a dysfunctional family and was probably exploited early in life.

I don't know much about Elis' life.

I am not a Madonna fan either. I just think she is the female equivalent in terms of fame as MJ. Madonna is about 13 days older than Michael Jackson was . . . Michael was a Virgo though and she is a Leo. I don't really believe in astrology either. I just know bits of trivia.
