Ok... just so you all know... I have no idea about any of this stuff... but I do have a few questions.

In Layman's Terms ...

1. what is Quantum Physic's?

and

2. Is there any opposition to it? (I mean another type of "group" so to speak)

Thanks!

Well, it's just a branch of science that studies all things small, small as in down to the atomic and subatomic levels.

ok. Thanks

What about all things large?

Once again... very helpful ...

Any elaboration on that?

The rest of physics is for the world around us that we can see. The teeny tiny world doesn't behave like the everyday world we see and touch, so it needs different physics, hence quantum physics.

Ok... so microscopic is "Quantum Physics" and everything else is just plain "Physics"? Is this correct?

Sort of.
Take cells for example. Blood cells, skin cells, plant cells, any kind of cell. They are indeed microscopic, but still too big for quantum physics.
So think smaller: atoms, protons, electrons, and even the little guys they call quarks that make up a single proton or electron.

Oh, well, just read- anything you can get your hands on. Watch for specials on the educational channels for when they mention physics of any kind. At some point you'll run into Einstein's work, and to keep a long story short, his work opened up the door that led to quantum physics as we know it today. Anyway, I hope that's of some help to you.

Quantum physics deals with what happens when you look at things really closely. Things on a small scale. There isn't really an opposite to it, but there are different camps within it. At the other end of the scale you have relativity, which deals with big things moving really fast!

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

So, can I ask... what are these "Camps"?
