hmm, id get digital. theyre the easiest to use, especially for beginners. once you get more advanced, id switch to a 35mm manual camera. i think they are awesome, and fun once you get down how to use them. you can get some really great digital cameras cheap, depending on where you look.

what sort of photography?
you see i prefer landscapes to portraits so choose a high pixel camera with a zoom.
if u want portraits something with a good flash and maybe a LCD screen is what your looking for.
there are so many on offer that its best to just shop around!

so true. i honestly prefer the 35mm so i can play with shutter and stuff, but depending on how in depth you want to get you might want something else.

yeah i was thinking about the camcorder thing but i am not that into videos and what not i would rather have good megapixels and with a Digital EOS camera i could control shutter and F-Stop and all that but they are just so expensive

true, but worth it. if you bought a normal 35 mm, though cheaper, film costs are outrageous

I would advise good digital with at least 4 megapixes and truly good zoom. We had use 35-m for years. Three years ago we went in realy spectacular road trip. I used only my digital. My husband use regular 35-m. I got over 200 pictures of "national geaqographic" quality. Of 5 36 pictures films, my husband got around 40 pictures worfy to keep. We never used 35-m since that time. With digital, you not limited with number of shots. If you don't like it, just delite it and use the space again. And if picture is not perfect, but valuble, there is alway a photoshop.
Look my profile. I put few picture I took with digital.

I have a canon rebel 35mm and a canon rebel 300D. I love them both. The great thing is you can switch the lenses between the two. The are both good for any type of picture. The 300D is a 6 mp camera, and takes very true to life pictures. It also comes with a adobe photoshop elements. It may cost a lot, but it's well worth the cost. They have been discontinued, so you may be able to get it for less than 700. Amazon.com has some great deals on Canon digital cameras. Check them out. Just make sure the camera you get has the things on it you want it to be able to do. If you get the 300D it should or if you want something a little more advanced get the 20D.

Digital.

If you actually want to get into photography, the Nikin D70 is *the* camera to get right now.
