I'm trying to learn PHP, and I've just read the chapter on classes and objects. Frankly, if you asked me what I just read, and what it meant, you'd be met with a blank stare. Can anyone help me understand? What are classes and objects used for and how are they used?

I can help you with HTML if you need. It's super simple once you get it.
I guess the trick with learning new things is just to try it out and see what happens, eh?

I think Tino is probably the only person on the site who might be able to help you.

someone gave me this link which has very useful examples that are helping me understand all this better: link [www.ibm.com]

It's annoying that I have to look stuff up online in order to understand stuff in this book I bought to teach me this stuff. This book's author's teaching style is really lacking in some ways. Oh well, yay for the internet, lol.

Aren't they just a bunch of variables and functions set out in a way that it can be easily recalled to be used over again (instead of typing it out all the time?)

Ok, try to understand this from the point of view of someone who's never written anything in PHP before. What does that description mean?

I like the dictionary example in that link in the post above. To me it seems like a class is a pattern for variables, and an object fills in the specifics for the variables following the pattern the class set up, right? Am I understanding that right?

A class is a set of variables and functions which have purpose, and can be called up to be used.

An object is an instance of a class being used.

This is something which i have never really used in PHP (although i seem to do something similar) so i don't know if im 100% on this.
