I would kill something if I were starving, too. But I son't think ma** slaughter is right. God did tell people it was alright to eat meat, but he laid down laws about how to treat the animals and expected people to care for them well.

Well there are 6 billion mouths to feed. We all aren't going to eat off one chicken.

Again, that's not the same beliefs that everyone has. That's a Christian way of looking at it. There are many religions where animals do get a second chance.

Anyway, that's not the point.

Medications cannot be developed without first testing them. They usually use a model that is close to the human. AKA rats, rabbits, or mice.

In order to have a medication that actually works, you have to understand the pathways that medication will take.

Are you willing to test only on humans? Because a lot of people are going to die that way. It takes years to get to human testing. If you started testing right away on humans, you're gonna kill people.

Let me get all 3 of these- We're made out of meat, too. You going to become a cannibal?

If you want to feed 6 billion people a vegetarian diet would go MUCH further to accomplish that.

I am going to have a Christian slant because I do have Christian beliefs. I never said everyone had to see it that way, I just explained why I do. I would be Thrilled to pieces if they would test on humans. They are killing humans by giving them medicine that is supposed to be safe and isn't. Test it on death row inmates.

There aren't enough inmates to test on. Not to make one drug that would be useful. Besides, if you are looking at it though Christian eyes, (and I never said before that you were saying people had to look at it that way- I was just pointing out that people may have a different opinion) saying that death row inmates are ok to use would be a form of judgement. We aren't supposed to do that. (Yeah, surprise- I'm a Christian).

Perfect. You can't test on animals but you can test death row inmates? What about human rights? What about being decent to every human being? You are a walking hypocrisy in my opinion.

Nope, but there are plenty of animals that would eat us as soon as look at us. Jump in a lion pen next time you're at the zoo and see if there's a lion wearing a PETA T-Shirt protesting that you don't get eaten.

Stop trying to make everyone vegetarians. I do not want to have to work harder to find my protein - I know a wonderfully abundant source already, I watched the lions.

This one leaves me speechless beyond comprehension. You are against animal testing but support human testing. I'd have had more respect for you if you'd called for the end of all pharmaceuticals. Oh, and you do realise how many people modern medicine saves every year, right?

Not to mention how many drugs you would have to take off the shelf if you wanted to remove the ones tested on animals. Pretty much all of them.

What about medicine that is actually tested and used for animals?

Come on, they kill the inmates anyways. And yes, I know it is unpopular- but do you realize what you have to do to get on death row in the first place? And they could have a say in it. IT's certainly not any worse than doing it to an animal who has never hurt anyone.

It's not pretty much all drugs. It is all of them I'm sure. It used to be the best way, but with technology being what it is, people should be able to find better ways to figure out if a drug is going to cure cancer or kill people.

And frankly, I really, really don't care if other people are vegeatrians or meat eaters or if they work in a lab that tests on animals. Everyone has their own moral compa** and I do what mine says and let others do what theirs say. But, if I feel someone has specious reasoning, I have to point it out.

I think any medicine should be tested on whoever needs it already- be it an animal or a human. I'd participate in a study if it was for something I needed.

You really need to know more about how research works.

You think it's okay to sacrfice human life for medical testing? Normally medicine that is still in the testing phase usually isn't safe to take or may have unknown side effects which may lead to a worse painful death.

It's not really a sacrifice if they were going to die anyways.

But not worth trying to save?

Without animal testing we probably wouldn't have antibiotics for the common flu. Imagine your child dying because the medicine still in testing stages didn't work.
