i just want to ask you one question.

can you please just take this a deeper thought for one moment?

think about what your lifestyle revolves around. im going to make the assumption that youve become a vegetarian because you dont want to have animals killed for your food supply. for many people, since animals cant clearly show their pain the same way humans do, its ok to have them killed for us to eat. but of course animals display a form of emotion. so, it pains many people to know that they senselessly die for our gain. just keep in mind, it is human nature to eat meat. anyways, animals are the obvious choice to beg for rights. but what about insects? we cant kill a cute bunny, but wont hesitate to kill a fly. insects dont have a central nervous system, which makes it ok to kill them. and while we're at it. its horrible to eat a plant! i mean, to make matters worse, all creatures eat plants while they are still living. each time you chew, each little cell membrane is in agony. if people were to show concern for animals, and demand some sort of equal rights, then it would only be fair to demand rights for all living things. then, what would you eat? i guess nothing right?

if one living thing deserves to live, then all should deserve to live.

OR

you can allow your basic needs be fulfilled and live a healthy life.

Zero points for originality. Noxus: perhaps you can tell us what right you have to eat the killed body of someone else?

I don't understand why so many people are against PETA.
I am a vegitarian myself and an animal rights actavist.
Could someone explain to me why so many people say it's wrong?

This is the latest thick-headed campaign from the children that run P*TA: link [www.peta.org]

They bring shame on the serious message of animal rights.

I am not against PETA, but I am against people judging things that they do not understand. PETA is great at that. And sometimes what is done to make life easier for an animal has the exact opposit effect.

You are right a lot of times they do things that are unclassy or that make themselves look like jackasses but they have done more than any organization in history for animal rights. They routinely expose industries for illegal animal practices like animal cruelty. And they bring a lot of attention to animal rights

It is more accurate to say that they bring attention to animal welfarism which they call 'animal rights': link [www.thestar.com]

In the meantime, they try to silence animal rights philosophers (Like Gary Francione and Tom Regan) in favour of a progressive animal welfarist philosophy which is extremely problematic in terms of helping nonhuman animals. Listen to part 2 of this recent interview: link [www.animalvoices.ca]

I'm vegan but neutral about what PETA do or don't do. I don't know enough about it to say whether they do more good than bad or vice versa.
As far as for people saying PETA "protests violently", what counts as violence? If it's just holding up signs and screaming at the top of their lungs then it may be a little annoying but hardly violent.
If it was physical violence then I doubt as many people would support them since they are trying to promote peace for all living creatures and thats what humans are too, duh!

I think it is hard to be neutral about PeTA and their exploitation of women, for example.

Many animal advocates are impressed by their web site/videos etc. Anyone with that much money could do the same. The problem is that there is no philosophical consistency.

Of course animal advocates will be impressed by the videos because they promote animal rights. You take a look at them and see what really goes on "behind the scenes", why wouldn't you be impressed? Heck, i'm pretty impressed by some of the footage they got regarding factory farming.

I've never heard of PETA exploiting women...

if peta wants something done they take it in measures that can harm people and are very violent..myself personally, im all for animal rights..animals dont deserve to be in puppy mills or be harmed for someones joy... i used to be a vegetarian, for almost 3 years...and one day it hit me..i just thought about how humans have survived on this planet for how long and they ate meat back then...i think that it is necessary for us to eat meat and get those vitamins...and long ago we needed animals for clothing to keep warm..i dont wear fur, but i do still think that we need animals as nutrients...for all we know they could have been put here just for us to eat..who knows...

and what about those children in other countries that all they have is their livestock? when is peta gonna go after them for eating them?

Believe it or not, most people in 3rd world countries keep cows, chickens and other animals for things like milk, eggs, and use them to carry tools that they use to keep their crops alive. Yes, just like the western world, they do eat meat, but I don't think PETA would be stupid enough to go after people in near poverty otherwise they'd probably lose all their support.

I respect that you think it's necessary to eat meat but for me, i'm contempt to be a part of a different food chain.

i have just had a look on their website cos i had no idea who peta was.
what did the cave man do a few million years back? starve or kill for food and clothing? i think things can go too far and everyone has a right to believe what they want to, but not to shove their views onto others if they are not interested

space..........the final frontier?

Kind of off topic but this reminded me of something...
My dad owned a pig called George. When I went to visit my dad I made good friends with George. One morning I woke up and we were having bacon for breakfast and surprise, George was missing!
