Orange triangles in forum site list/subscribing to forum topics

Aloha

I have 2 questions.

1. I subscribed to quite a few topics in the forum list. When I look into those topics though, I can see that quite a few threads get missed on my 'favourites' screen. Why is this, and if 'favourites' only offers a selection of posts from the topic that interests you, what is - respectfully - the point of subscribing?

2. What do the orange triangles mean when you look at the forum site list? Does that mean I have subscribed, that there are new threads I haven't seen?

Basically the favorites section is for all threads in a favorite forum, subscribing is for individual threads in any forum

2 - I believe it's supposed to indicate new threads but doesn't work very well. I personally don't pay much attention to it.
