Go ask a Vet about this comment, when I probably know more about cats and dogs than they do.
I didn't learn about them from any book, I learned by watching them and studying them hence asking a Vet would serve no purpose in regards to this comment. As I said common sense.

My cats were outdoor and indoor cats, what's the difference? I still say it's in their nature to eat mice and birds. My question was only as to why they have never come out with cat food that tasted like mice or birds as per their nature.

You rarely see a cat attacking a cow, pig, or chickens and eating them. So the human brain matter that came up with all these ingredients to put in their food really didn't do a thorough study on exactly what a feline lives off of.

And I've had cats in the house that used to catch the mice that got in and ate them, it's in their nature, beef, pork, chicken isn't if we really wanted to get right down to it. We had cats on the farm when I was growing up and we had cows and horses, pigs and chickens. None of our cats went near them in an attempt to kill and eat them.

Any food that doesn't do them any harm and I'm sure not very many people really know which one's do or don't, no matter the research done on it, is fine in my opinion.

BTW facts are not always documented right as proven many times down the road, some have been put up as fact only to be retracted months and even years later.

Sometimes just knowing about the topic first hand and common sense are the facts.

I'm not starting anything just asking why my comment would even be brought to the attention of a VET.

Just a question nothing more.

Because you probably don't. No offense.

By the way, I already answered this question twice back in the other thread. Here is what I wrote:

"It is kinda funny to think about, but the real reason is that humans don't eat mice or birds (other than poultry). The pet food industry is essentially the way human food companies dispose of waste proteins (such as beef and chicken organs) that would otherwise get disposed of.

Even if someone wanted to create a mouse and small bird cat food, it would probably be extremely expensive because small animals have a very, very small amount of meat that would be extremely difficult to butcher and harvest effectively."

people at pet food companies automatically assume we like to feed our pets with similar things to wat we eat. this may not be the case with some people. and eating the birds and mice outside for cats is actually way more benefiical to feline health. the food is not only nutritious, which is helpful, but the fur or feathers on their prey items cleans the animals teeth. this is why wild herbivores are more prrone to tooth problems than wild carnivores. so eating what a cat would naturally eat is a good idea and maybe pet food producers should think about leaving certain amounts of fur in the food, no matter how nauseating it seems to us humans as they wud be doing both u and the animals a favour

But why would I have to ask a VET this question?? Common Sense should and has prevailed, as jonnythan said with his explanation.

u dont need to go to anyone as qualified as a vet. like u said common sense tells us this and if that fails, simple biology tells us this too

I think you're severely underestimating veterinarians and their knowledge.

Not to mention people who are professional cat nutritionists. These people work with real research, real data, real experiments, etc etc. They read scientific publications and know what they're talking about.

Do you read animal nutrition journals? Have you ever performed blood analysis on an animal after having it on a strict diet for 6 weeks?

Seriously, come on now. Your casual "observation" of your pets does not compare with what these people do. What sort of levels of blood phosphorous do your cats have? What's their body fat percentage? There's no way you can seriously believe that you know more about animal and animal nutrition than trained veterinarians because you "observe" your own pets.

for some things u dont need to have qualifications or be a nutritionalist to see that certain types of food just arent natural to certain animals. nobody needs to tell us not to feed chicken bones to dogs cos we all no that the dogs wont chew them properly and choke on them. certain things are just common sense
