Hmm...I didn't know computer nerds were pilots. Well, whatever makes 'em happy, as long as they take off and land all in one piece.

Clever, Ally, but the Northwest aircraft are typically Boeing. This cockpit looks like it's right out of the Airbus world... The joysticks are a dead-giveaway.

For those of you who don't get it, a Northwest flight recently flew about 100 miles past its intended airport because the pilots became distracted for over 90 minutes by (as they claim) their laptops.

I thought they said they were arguing? Have they changed their story?

Yeah, they changed it very quickly.

"The two pilots of Northwest Flight 188 told National Transportation Safety Board investigators that they didn't notice repeated attempts by air traffic controllers and airline dispatchers to contact them because they were working on a new crew scheduling program on their laptops."

How did they explain changing their story from "we were arguing so we didn't notice" to basically "We were just working at our jobs too dang hard to notice"?
