| DuLu TRAIN deRAILour ![]() Waverly, Washington | #1 GIVE YOURSELF A SECOND CHANCE Have you ever heard the old saying "A lot of people die with their best music still in them?" Let me tell you about a fellow who almost made that saying come true for himself. The rocky road to musical fame has left many striving artists by the wayside. Starting out has never been easy. Every artist who ever sold out a concert started out an unknown entity -- even such greats as Barbara Streisand, who began her career in bars in Greenwich Village, New York. Lonely nights, smoky dives, and unappreciative customers are the norm. They were for this singer. As a matter of fact, there were too many nights like that. At a certain point, he was convinced no one would ever want to hear the songs he wrote and, for a moment, he considered taking his own life. Before he could put his plan into action, he wrote a song about those terrible nights. He called it "The Piano Man" and his career took off. Years later he wrote "Second Wind", which urges us not to hate ourselves for the mistakes we've made -- a song which pleads with people not to take their own lives --life he almost did. Billy Joel almost died with his best songs in him. Now he persuades us to give ourselves a second chance when we get down. The only difference between the ones who succeed and the ones who don't .. is a dream. Don't let your dream die without playing it out.
