You can always try the Ultra website in my signature - you only have to look at 6 other websites to have YOUR website looked at by others...

It's an interesting idea - and totally free - check it out!

It's a bit of a scattergun approach but you can post ads at free classifieds. Do searches with different keywords and you're sure to get a whole pile of them.

Check the Google page rank of each and post ads at those with the highest PR. Google is certain to index some of those ads and help your site's PR. Not much, but it does help, and you'll never run out of sites to do this on.

A high PR does not mean you get lots of traffic on your website, actually PR doesn't mean anything since December. ( just a nice looking green bar

)
I got pr0 and 1 websites with lots of traffic , and pr 5 - 6 that have 20 visitors a day.
Like it has been said many time on this forum, adwords + a proper SEO and internet marketing campaign is the best way to get traffic to a website.

Getting traffic is time consuming and takes lots of work.

You first need to determine your target market, learn as much about its members as possible.

Theb determine what they want and need.

Find keywords that relate to their wants and needs.

Write good solid content related to those wants and needs. Do all of your on site and off site SEO for your content on the keywords.

Join forums and post on blogs related to your topics that your target market members visit.

Write and submit articles.

The list goes on.

The only thing that I'd advise you not to do is to join traffic exchanges. They don't bring targeted traffic, and you start getting loads of junk emails.

Start by including your website address in your signature box for two reasons:
1. You might get traffic from this forum if they are interested in what you sell/promote.
2. Having lots of links pointing back to your website (including links in your signature box)helps raise your relavancy rating in search engines like Google. This means that you get a higher position in Google when somebody searches for the keywords you use.

You will notice that most of the people that have replied to your original question (including me) do this. It is OK, as long as you do not blatently advertise your own product.

If they dont bring in target audience then what are they doing? They seem to be all over the place and a couple that I know of get high numbers and still turn a profit.
