Sad but true, The pic I posted a few days ago showed these lovies in my plant box that my family have so much enjoyed watching them grow. Today, the mourning dove mom & dad decided it was time for their 2 little lovies to leave the nest. I stood watching this amazing stuff through my front door as one left the nest right as rain. The other babe had a bit of a tough time and downed on her head. Oops. When she righted herself, before she had a chance to move, a chipmunk attacked her. Crap, so I swung open the door which left the little one and her mom on our porch. To end the story, does anyone know how to perhaps feed mourning doves until they can feed for themselves. This little bird has a couple of injuries that seem to be superficial but it is definitely not as ready to leave the nest as the sibling. Will post pics of today and later (hopefully much later. Mom dove and dad seem to want her to leave the nest but the babe will not survive in its current state. Have decided to intervene for this brave little creature. I googled for some help but nothing seems to care for getting this bird another chance. Any ideas or help is so appreciated.
