I am also split here.

I don't like it when people have a ton of kids. Even if they can afford it. I don't think it is fair to the world. The whole thing with religion and birthcontrol is stupid, and will lead to big problems.

I don't think the government should have a say in this though. However with continued population growth, something will have to be done.

I don't have any kids, by choice.

Indeed it is. I don't know where that belief is derived from.

It's the 11th Commandment: "Thou shalt not consume pills or useth other means to prevent unnecessary and unwanted children. What kind of senseth wouldst that maketh?"

Obviously your Bible is missing something. Pssh.

Well, Moses tripped and fell coming down the mountain, and chipped off the 11th commandment.

I believe the belief comes from the impending sense of doom, that christianity sells as inevitable. Some folks decided since the world would end and god was real that we never have to worry about over population.

This quiz is worded in one of the most bias ways possible. If the wording were something like "Should people have children who cannot afford to care for them" I am sure the majority would vote No.

I am all for civil rights but the state should try to halt people from having kids who cannot support them.

Yeah, I think I agree with you. The only thing is where would the state draw the line for "cannot support"? That could turn into something nasty.

True..it is poorly worded...These people are not treating their already 4 kids the right way...They are addicted to cocaine and do not have enough money already...So, lets let them have more kids, so they can hurt more lives and become even a bigger burden on society...

Their behavior just lacks common sense, and it is not just themselves they are hurting, but their kids and society as well...This is where it crosses what they should be "allowed" to do...

Someone should definitely have a say in this couples "right" to have more children when they cant even care for the ones they have...

I would say if you are addicted to drugs and therefore are spending every dime you have on drugs, you should be in rehab, not putting more hugry children on the planet...Is that so strange?

I agree, but how do we keep the government for using this as an excuse to take more control? You know how this goes, you ask for a little, you get a lot.

hasn't the government got in trouble before for fixing mentally disable people?

That is just as bad. My parents couldn't have affored me or my sister. It would be a great way to keep the poor man from having kids. Conservatives are all about taking rights away.

Maybe one day you can say people that don't have a college degree shouldn't have kids. Come on....

Um, excuse me, are you paying NO attention to my posts whatsoever? Does this conservative sound like he's wanting rights taken away? It's just like LIBERALS to make generalized assumptions.

So there.

That's exactly my point. On the one hand, people like that shouldn't be allowed to be parents, but on the other hand, how are we going to ensure that those in government discern as they should? This could easily get out of hand fast.

This is true...One wants to just go case by case and make a good judgement based on the facts, but it will become tricky and hard to control...

It just seems wrong to do nothing and let these addicts create more children and not have the means to take care of them or care for them because they are too busy doing drugs...

Getting them into rehab, I believe, would be the best step right now...then go from there...

I don't know how to resolve this. It seems we'd need enough people we could really trust in government, but when's that ever going to happen?

I think we just found ourselves in what the philosophy nuts call a moral dillemma.
