Miami Heat Up 3-1.
Once again, Dwayne Wade was Jordanesque in the fourth quarter, as the Miami Heat recovered from a 29-11 run by the Detroit Pistons to move one game closer to their first appearance in the NBA Finals.
The Detroit Pistons used a zone defense to surround and contain Dwayne Wade, but a strong supporting cast saved the day.
Udonis Haslem, Antoine Walker, Alonzo Mourning, James Posey and Gary Payton responded with big shots, key blocks and playing unselfish basketball.
Haslem added 16 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot. He was huge in the fourth quarter as he teamed with Dwayne Wade to put away the Pistons.
Dwayne Wade finished the night with 31 points, 5 assists, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. Wade had two impressive dunks in the fourth, but it was his two highlight-reel shots that everybody will be talking about for years to come.
Wade took a pass from Gary Payton, drove to the center of the lane, split two defenders, leaped over Antonio McDyess, got fouled, and tossed the ball over his shoulder and into the hoop, as he hit floor.
With 9:30 remaining in the fourth, Wade gave the Heat a 69-63 lead with a jump shot over an overly aggressive Richard Hamilton, as the shot clock expired.
Gary Payton hit a 3-pointer and the defense used its big bodies and quickness, in pushing the lead to 85-71.
Holding Rashed Wallace to 12 points, and Richard Hamilton to 11 points was big for a Heat team that was atrocious from the foul line.
Shaquille O'Neal finished with 21 ponts, 9 rebounds and 1 blocked shot, on 5-15 shooting from the foul line.
