it's a glorified form of vertigo, however the "dizzy" attacks can last anything from a few hours to about a week. It really knocks me for six when I get it because I can't do anything at all except sit tight untill it's over. You also get nausea, ear ache, ringing in ears. It's supposidly occurs due to an increased build up of fluid in your ears, however nobody is really to sure on that one, so the best thing they can offer me medication wise is water tablets to try and conteract the fluid. It has also effected my hearing and I have lost around 20% of my hearing in my left ear.

Are you a rock chick? Well if your a head banger STOP IT! My boyfriend confirmed that it is the ringing of the ears. He knew a friend who was alot older he said he could only barely handle the pain. So I hope that you won't be in to much pain. And i'm only suggesting that it could be from what I said earlier. becki7

lol nah, i'm not a head banger. I'm not sure how rare it is, but it's not something i'd ever heard of before so i don't think it can be that commmon. Apparently you can only contract it from about 20 years of age, I only turned 20 in November, so that's pretty unlucky lol!!
