I am trying to sign into my Windows Live Messenger and each time it sends me this message:

We were unable to sign you into Windows Live Messenger at this time.
Please try again later.

To let us try and troubleshoot the problem, click the Troubleshoot button.

Error code: 80048820
Extended error code: 80048439

I have tried just about every option there is and come up with nothing. Even the support site doesn't have any reference to this error code.

Anybody know how to fix it, please?

Funnily enough it's fixed itself.

i get this sometimes
do this.. if you have the MSN link on the bottom of your screen and right click on it select exit and then go back to the start menu or and re open it from there. Unless you already have an Icon on your desktop then try to pen it again.


If this does not fix it.
try CLT + ALT + DELETE and select the Processes tab click on the image name text and then scroll down until you see msnmsgr.exe right click on it and select end process. click ok and then try restarting your MESSENGER.

oh and do not confuse it for msmsgs.exe

be sure to select the msnmsgr.exe one

I find msn weird even with hotmail I had trouble closing the account when I click on account window popup server is busy I've heard computer crash after going into msn
