Wondering maybe if you folks could list me maybe 3-5 of the best true holocaust history books? I am looking for some more to educate myself further on the subject.

I read this one after visiting the Holocaust Museum in D.C. Great book...Sala's Gift: My Mother's Holocaust Story by Ann Kirschner

If you want something more history book-ish, I suggest this one: A History of the Holocaust by Yehuda Bauer

I don't remember the titles or the authors, but I know of two books. One is a collection of letters written to Hitler from people complaining about the brutality of the German Army in the early days of the Holocaust. It has eyewitness accounts of people being shot after they dug their own graves. Another book is about people who participated in the atrocities. It speaks of how they killed people with the thought of how it was some kind of public service.

The Third Reich At War by Richard J Evans covers Germany's actions against the various conquored peoples and it's own citizens in good detail.

Or The Years of Extermination by Saul Friedlander, very detailed and not a book to read if you're feeling depressed. Well worth it though.
