What the f***?
Why do so many artists release crappy quality CD's of live performances, they nearly always suck.

I think it's just a test to how good a band actually is, without all the vocoders, sequencers and the such to make it sound polished. I also think that a lot of live songs are context driven by the crowd they're being played to, so you'd kind of have to be there to really get the full sound, so it may not translate well in a recording.

I understand that, but it just annoys me when i get an album and all i hear is the crowd and the occasional word.
Also, because of the sort of music I like it's generally pretty bad live.

People are cheap. They want the concert experience without paying the extra money for it.

Yeah I hate that, it's good that the crowd like them so much and everything but you pay £10 or whatever to hear the band play, not a few hundred pissed people singing out of key.

I think most songs are over produced, you would never get a decent version of Blue Monday, by New Order live, and their excuse is always, "Well, the equipment has failed"

lol, If you think most live albums are actually live then youd be wrong.

A "live" album goes through all the stuff a "studio" album can go through.

Including overdubs, not very "live" is it?

Ive never been a fan of live music, i hate it when they deviate from the song im used to hearing on the radio. They add bits in and do extra little instrumentals here and there, gets on my tits.

I heard the live version of the doves kingdom of rust, the intro went on for a f***ing age!

Yeah but if you were there in the crowd wouldn't you want it to last a bit longer? I agree that on an album it may get a bit boring but if you were there listening to it in a huge crowd with people dancing and having fun or whatever, it adds to the atmosphere and kind of feels more like you're seeing the band having a jamming session.

Or maybe I'm just a bit obsessed with music

I dont overly like concerts, ive been to a few and i just get pissed off with having to fight through a crowd to have a piss.

Id like concerts if i could have my own ittle box, with a bar and that.
