18/F/Falkirk, United Kingdom Join Date: Sep 2007 | We have to wean ourselves off plastic. We have to stop dumping our waste everywhere and anywhere. We have to recycle more and we need to stop dumping and littering. Lives depend on this. Not just ours, but innocent creatures such as the albatross.
You see, when you dunp stuff in the ocean, it doesn't stay there, the ocean currents pull it along to places such as Midway, the home of around 2 million Laysan albatorsses, an endangered species whom plastic waste is now poisoning and choking to death.
It's not just albatrosses who are affected, every marine creature is affected by this and many bird species too, such as the seagull, but I feel I owe the albatrosses something for giving me such a cute nickname. (To Delta62 I am "little Albatross".) So I've decided to make some noise and I need to figure out how. So I'm asking you guys to help me in this because they really do need our help.
It can start really simply as well. Most super-markets sell "bags-for-life" and I know that Claire's Accessories sell re-usable shopping bags which come in pouches and this is a good start. We have to wean ourselves off plastic to save them. We also have to spread the word. So, any ideas?
