Yup, the blood tests are back and my Doctor says I have diabetes. The kind I can treat with a modified diet and also increase my metabolism by getting more activity (exercise). So, cut down on carbohydrates and step up my activities. Sounds easy We'll see.

No more of the following:
French Fries (Damn!)
Milk Shakes (Double Damn!!)

Cut down on Carbohydrates:
Less potatoes more (green) vegetables
Cut down on corn? I thought that was a vegetable?! But it holds a lot of carbohydrates.

(Is there anything I like not on this list?)
Garlic is good and so are onions (Thank God!!!)

Water, water, and more water. (Gulp, I just took a drink)

So now, I'm off to do some garden work (activity) and I'll take a water bottle with me. Another blood test in 3 months to see if there's any progress.

J.R.

I'm really sorry to hear that, J.R.
But do you get to have double of something else? That would be a small consolation.

Count me in as another caring TFSer, sorry this
has happened to you. Happy to see that it seems as
if you are 'accepting' the diagnosis. Not that it
would change, if you weren't accepting of it, but it
is nice to have the good attitude. Best of luck in
the change of your eating habits.

The best thing is your doctor has caught it before you need to use medication. Early detection will slow the process of diabetes advancing provided you take the advice seriously.

Your health is now more important than ever, keeping a fat belly away and looking after yourself is priority.

It can be a positive thing in your life. It may not seem like it right now but if as a result of the lifestyle changes you are going to make, you will feel younger and fitter and more alive than ever.

Diabetes Support Group
Fourth Thursday of each month, 5:30-7 p.m., Chehalis campus. A peer-led support group featuring a monthly guest speaker or other presentation on diabetes care. Includes information sharing with others who have diabetes. Call Lunell, (360) 736-0112, ext. 244, or Melissa, (360) 740-8362.http://www.providence.org/swsa/classes_and_events/support.htm

DO speak to other diabetics for all the things the doctors may forget to tell you.

Sorry to hear that, but you'll be fine. Half of my family has had diabetes for YEARS and they're all perfectly fine! lol. You can still have milkshakes. Make them yourself with a blender, with all natural ingredients Much nicer that way anyway!

I love to experience life in all its agonising glory.

I’m sorry to hear about that J.R.I also experienced the same thing. At first I ignored the symptoms until I tried texting bongo for the signs and symptoms of diabetes. Then I realized I was really in big trouble. Bongo says that I already had type 2 diabetes which could lead to many complications. Then I immediately seeked a doctor’s opinion and medical advice. If you are looking for a reliable source in seeking medical advice or any other queries just text 505050. Thanks to bongo, it really saved my life.
