I think I'd start with Episodes 1 & 2. Get the bad ones out of the way first. Episodes 3 & 6 are the best ones

I was thinking 4,5,6 first for dramatic reasons. It gives the first 3 purpose.

ABSOLUTELY!

For someone who has never seen any Star Wars films or knows nothing about the Vader/Annakin plot then yes... see them that way, however, if not, see them in sequential order. Both trilogies were good in their own right.

My order of favorite chapters are:

V - awesome, pivotal storyline where past meets present - links BOTH trilogies - absolutely one of the best movies ever made, period, let alone SW film
IV - great imaginitive fun, fluff, started it all - wonderful film
III - amazingly emotional, poignant storyline, awesome effects - fantastic film
II - great effects, battles, love story, duels - good storyline, albeit fairly complicated
VI - Beginning dragged with too much Jabba, too silly with ewoks, but redeemed with speeder bike chase and end with final throne room duel
I - very dreary, yet contrasted with the overanimated Jar-Jar Binks, an ok introductory chapter - does not hold water on its own as a film, but accompanying other films is passable

I think you should see them like George Lucas wants us to see them. I, II, III, IV, V and VI. That is the storyline.

You don't watch television serie backwards to don't you?
