Hi,

My name is Lynda. I recently started an online business, but I am new to internet business and marketing. To top it off, I am not that computer savvy...lol. I am looking for ideas and advice on good, cheap ways to market my business..you know, get the word out there. Please don't try to sell me anything you have "going". Just good advice so that I don't invest a ton of money with nothing to show for it....I appreciate all the help I can get!

Thanks!

I have also recently joined this IM thingy ma jig, i find there is so many things going on, that everytime you start reading something, you get distractedby someone else with a new idea. Iam personally truing affiliate marketing first, in order to get myself a basic understanding of the term so easily used by the gurus of the IM world.

Good luck in your new venture!

Hi Peter,

I feel your pain about being distracted by so many things/opportunites blasted at you everywhere you look. It is so hard to sort through everything and find out what would be the best way, deal, or what ever you want to call it and find something that will actually work. I am so new to this and not very internet savvy to boot. LOL. So much of the computer terminology leaves my drawing a blank and not really knowing what I am reading or looking at. The one area that I have found pretty easy and I have gotten a lot of traffic from is from forum posts. Hope that little tip helps you some. I also hope you experience success in your venture and keep my updated!

Lynda

Want my advice..take your time dont let anyone rush you and take it easy for a bit... when you feel you need a small break take one..catch some air outside and get a little R&R then get back on it refreshed and renewed..
good luck on the business

Thanks Goblin. Appreciate the advice. That is certainly good advice...can't let yourself get stressed out over it. I have seen so many ads that say instant money, but I think realistically you have to look over the longer period of time (1-2 years) before being where you really want to be. Anyway, best of luck to you all.

There are a lot of businesses out there. Personally, I'm always put off if they ask for a dime up-front.

hello

first , i would advice you to learn the basics about SEO,SEM
at the same time you can submit to free directories on the net (never pay and never give a backlink )
all this can be found on google , it will just cost you some time.

If you are willing to invest a little bit of money and time there are things such as google adwords and other pay per click programs out there. Also link exchanges are really good to. PM me if you want some names of the good ones

If you can not follow up with link exchange, it can be very tricky.
you can end with a link from your partner set on "no follow" or on a PR0
page... it can even be worth, you can be penalized if this link partner get blacklisted from a search engine. My advice, is no to get into link exchange if you can not check their status regularly.
