Hello there,

I am a virgin with Imac and I just purchased a MacOSX. I am
having problems in the following:

1) I have uploaded my files from a backup from a PC and now that they are
on my Mac I wanted to clear the unnecessary. However, now that I have all in
the Trash, when I try to empty it, I can't because it seems locked. It's saying
to me the following "to empty everything in the Trash, including locked
items, press the Option Key while selecting Empty Trash." Where is the bloody
"Option Key"?

2) Having been used to the PC and having a normal mouse, by right clicking
on it I could enter other options, but now I can not understand how I can get
the same functions with an Imac mouse...

3) I can not update the MSM Messenger. It generates a messanger.bin on the desktop and
when I open the file it creates another.... so on.... Do you have an idea how to proceed in
updating MSM and run it?

Please help this dummy here and thank you for your time.

1. The option key is the alt key. If you're using the mac keyboard that came with
the iMac it's right next to the apple(command) key.

2. If you hold down the control key when you click your mouse it will register as
a right-click. Also, you can use most two-button mouses with macs.

3. I think your problem is the fact that it's a .bin file. Not positive. You could try
downloading it with a different browser or look for a download specifically for
macs.

Obviously, don't follow these instructions.

I answered 1 and 2 the first time you posted them.

To install .bin files, install StuffIt Expander:

Nunzio, I can really only help with the MSN messenger.

I use a mac and microsoft messenger.

Download the file, open/run it and a disk image should appear. Open that disk image and
inside it should be the application. Drag this application to your desired folder and enter
any password/username requests.

That should do it.

And right clicking for macs is to click while holding down the far bottom left hand button
(control).

But you can connect pretty much any mouse you want to a mac. I use a PC one

if you have a apple mighty mouse you can enable secondary click(right click) on the mouse in the mouse settings as the mouse is pressure sensitive and can tell what side it is being clicked on

thought id register just to tell you that =]

I have a Logitech Clickit mouse and it works just like a mouse would on a
windows machine

go it to the trash and delete files one at a time, then when you find the problem
file, right click the file name "Get Info" open up the file info and in the general
tab, uncheck the lock button
