I have played flute for 12 years, just got out of the Military band field in October. I teach lessons occasionally, and I sing and write songs with my hubby. I am learning how to play Guitar though, I just got a nice steel string and am taking lessons :D

Piano and autoharp are my best instruments. I also play harmonica, recorder, bass, a little dobro and I can get by on a guitar.

I'm practicing keyboards, that's about it. However, I've fiddled with:

Acoustic guitar
Electric Bass
Acoustic Drums
Piano

Anybody can play the bloody Kazoo

Oh! And Harmonica, that's another one I constantly practice.

I guess you'd include the Slide Whistle in the category of "expert" as well then eh?

If you play woodwind, you can never really be good at brass, they're just too different. I've been trying to learn trumpet now that my school band needs one, but its just too different and I lose all tone on a woodwind when I go back to it after.

Also, how do you go about joining an army band? I've performed with the navy band here and a small town military band, and would love to join one when I'm kicked out of the state youth orchestra.

I actually started on Trombone, then off to horn and then moved to Wood wind. I meant I never excelled in brass. it just didn't appeal to me. Besides I found woodwinds to be more challenging.. just my opinion.
I've seen many musicians who can go from bra** to woodwind. It all depends on who you are and how good you are really.

You contact a recruiter and tel them you want to Audition for that particular service's music program.
