No, they were not his people. Hitler hated communists etc with a passion just as they hated him.

If you ask a Communist if capitalists are their people, they will tell you no. If you ask a Jew if Gentiles are their people even though they have the same citizenship, they will say no. In Israel, non-Jews have less rights than the Jewish peoples.

You have to try to see this from the people of the day, not yours.

Just saying it as it is. It's not a matter of taking it too seriously, just stating it as it is.

And, from the many communists I have known, communists are not as tolerating as they portray themselves as.

The way I see it - whatever atrocities that he did was NOT justifiable... either in today's context, or then. He may be misunderstood, but perhaps he, himself, did not understand himself. Who knows? Nevertheless - we cannot say that he does not have that evil streak in him. To have put so many people through the unthinkable... it would take a less than humane person who can sleep well at night after having done that.

Perhaps the only real emotions and feelings he had were for Josephine, but he was only in love with Power.

What truly went on in his heart and head, we may never know. All he wanted was to get rid of anyone who did not conform to his beliefs, or were of a different faith, because perhaps that was simpler than having to steer them toward his views. Or maybe - he just had that inner hate for them... much like the racists that still run wild nowadays.

Nothing was ever enough for him, and he died a broken man. Some may say the fate that he faced, was very much deserved.
