yeah, just wait until you start driving and an animal runs right in front of your car and you kill it, along with causing massage damage to the car. i'm sure you'll be changing your mind about this law then.

Bad idea...
Isn't it actually illegal at the moment to try and swirve and dodge an animal in the road?

And for those with a sense of humour, related joke link [www.youtube.com]

I think deliberate animal cruelty is a crime. But hitting animals on the road can be unavoidable, especially squirrels. I almost hit a dog the other day and believe me I would of cried and felt terrible. But it was chasing something and ran right out in front of me. UNAVOIDABLE

I like how the OP hasn't responded to this.

The Unintentional part really bother's me, that is way out there, you seem to have more mercy for the already dead animal than a human life and that's just a little much for me, I think you're taking this a little too far, how is one supposed to see a slug on the road, you'd have to have a magnifying gla** and literally be hanging out of your window to see it, by then it wouldn't matter cause the car behind you and even the car ahead of you to which you are paying no attention to because you're bent over your window making sure you don't squish an insect, would either hit you or you them and you'd all probably be dead or in the hospital, then if I were to make a law just as ludicrous as yours is, my law would be if by your watching out for the insects life you killed 2 or 3 people then I'd have to fine you an infinite price, because humans are much more valuable, and before you mention God's creature's in rebuttal, read your Bible and tell me what God's perfect creation was>>>>>>>MAN.JMO

no, i didn't mean the slug. i was giving an example of how every creation god made has a purpose, and that each should be treated with respect.

i also think humans have more respect than any creatures on the planet, which is true, so if you can go to jail for killing a human, why can't you for killing an animal? don't they have lives too? all life is special, and didn't say you had to pay for slugs or insects. I havn't seen one squished slug on the road in my entire life. lol

i'm actually going to watch the road, and if I did ever hit an animal with a car then I would seriously mourn over it. I have a connection with animals that people don't see, all people have it, but just don't use it. don't ask me what it is, I have no name for it.

I'll just call it a Bond.

Maybe its purpose was to be run down?

After the part about $120 for unintentionally hitting a dead animal, I thought "you're out of you bloody mind!" No offense, but when I start driving I don't want the OPP pulling up to my car going:

"You did see that dead squirrel back there sir, yes?"
"Yes officer, and you did see those 12 other cars in the other lane back there, yes?"

That is a terrible idea for a law. People hit animals in the road all the time. Most of the time it's totally unavoidable. I hit a *deer* on a dark forest road at night. It appeared literally about 1/10 of a second before I hit it. There was absolutely no possible way to avoid it. There is no reason on earth that human beings should be on the hook for paying a fine to the government for the whims of wild animals.

This would also encourage people to violently swerve out of the way to avoid hitting animals that dart out into the road.

Do you want to explain to a grieving mother that her son is dead because he hit a light pole and died trying to avoid a fine he couldn't afford for hitting a squirrel who darted out into the road?

alright, you got me, but still, you're killing (DO NOT MAKE A COMMENT ON THIS!) a person in my eyes, but only in my eyes because it's my opinion, and take all life on this planet as a gift at birth. I hate it, it's injustice when I see someone throwing rocks at seagulls or chasing birds away from their food. If someone wants something to survive, things need to change, or be improved, for the sake of all the creatures, including humans, on this planet.
But this means nothing to any of you, carry on with your rudeness and not see what I see, or at least try.

And if you happen to hit an animal while trying not to hit a human?

Everything in life has it's fate/destiny and if getting run over was how it was meant to be, then so be it. It's out of our hands. I also don't beleive that any deities (gods) have anything to do with fate/destiny but that when time moves you can't reverse or stop it, it's time.
