How can you possibly say that the kleptomaniac jacka** Hillary Clinton is the best person to lead this country?

It's absolute madness to even suggest that any of the three remaining candidates would make competent Presidents. They're all big-government jerks who believe in consolidating your money into a monolithic national government, trampling your rights, and bending to the will of special interest groups and big money.

Fuck the Democrats, and f**k the Republicans. It's all bulls**t. It's a farce. The populace has been divided and conquered.

"Above all, everybody studiously ignores the fact that nearly every member of Congress is busy producing two products: payback legislation for their special interest funders and bulls**t rhetoric to keep their apparently braindead supporters on the hook. And year after year after year after year the issue of campaign finance legislation gets floated - and then all but the most minimal provisions get shot down, and what's left gets busily sued to smithereens.

And still you can log onto slashdot every day of the week and watch the spectacle of Republicans bickering with Democrats, liberals having it out with conservatives. Well here's the news of the day, sheep: the people who can afford real influence are laughing all the way to the bank."

-nanojath on Slashdot.

Jon, you seem to know what you're talking about, and you always can back up what you say with proof. Ever consider a career as a politician? If you can learn how to convince people without proof it seems like you'd be good at it.

jonnythan, sorry you have such a bitter outlook on this subject. Yet should watch your language. I must admit it is assholes like you who can not carry on a decent conversation. You must be one butt hurt individual, sorry to hear that. Be realistic, and optimistic. Hatred gets you nowhere jerk. By the way I was for Ron Paul at one time.

I think being a politician would be totally contrary to my nature.

A politician's bread and butter is his or her ability to manipulate the facts and bend reality to appeal to his or her constituents. I'm too committed to objective reality to even begin to do that kind of thing. Being honest, straightforward, totally unwilling to lie to the voters' faces, and unwilling to compromise belief and fact for political gain would make me an awful politician.

I have absolutely no tolerance for bulls**t of any kind. Plus, I have a certain way about me in my expectations of truth and rationality that really infuriates people who don't really have much respect for those things. I'd generate way too much ill will to get many voters on my side.

Please refer to the TFS Terms of Service that you agreed to when you signed up.

You are not allowed to personally insult or flame people. This includes calling them names such as "asshole" or "jerk."

So, please don't do it.

I must say, though, that I do love that being disgusted, unsatisfied, and unfulfilled with the way our elected leaders have in recent years raped the citizens of the United States for political and financial gain makes me an asshole.

If that makes me an asshole, then I proudly admit to being an asshole.

I can agree with everything that Jon has stated (...in his aforementioned* post!...), with the exception of his preferred nominee. The people have been dealt a dis-service by both political parties, this time around, and I don't see how it can be rectified by election time. Start hoarding your rice and beer,...we're in for a nasty ride!

Well, that sucks. What about doing it just for the sake of public service? I hear you though, too much buuls**t these days (probably any days) to be a politician.

I couldn't get much service done. I'd never win a single election

You never know, but yeah without some fancy lying you probably wouldn't get elected. Maybe lie for the sake of doing better?

If you think you cam do better that is.

I have no doubt that's how most politicians start out. Look where it gets them.

Screw that, man. You either have principles or you don't.
