Of course we'll do our own research, and make our own decisions - but if you want to voice an opinion - feel free:

1) Pontiac G6 2006 36K mileage
2) Chevy Cobalt 2007 37K mileage (stick)
3) Ford Focus 2008 8,000 mileage (stick, 5 speed)
4) Chevy Cobalt LS 2008 9,000 mileage
5) Pontiac G6 2008 36K mileage
6) Chevy Aveo 2008 Gas Saver 27K mileage

7) truck Mitubishi Raider 47K mileage 2007
truck Ford Ranger 64K mileage 2004

Oh, and yes, we know -- we know better then to base our final decision of whether we buy or not buy ....on the opinions of TFS members who we don't even know. Just postin' and having fun with this.
The dealer we bought our last car from sent us a flyer - they're having a 4-day sale of all kinds of vehicles: bank repossessions;
government surplus; car rental vehicles; least return vehicles;
corporate demo vehicles. Has anyone ever bought these type of vehicles, and if so, how'd it work out?

A car with a stick, is there any other kind?

lol, when I drive them, the clutch seems to need replacing more than 'normal'. Most of these cars, the sales person says -- gets 30 milese to the gallon. I believe that, our old clunkers get that much. The newer ones should do as well or better.

Nah, dodgy bunch hun.

Go with a Japanese model, easily the most reliable car on the market.

I have driven Fords and Holdens (which i think is your pontiac) and they are heaps of junk.
Always fallin apart, i replaced something every 3 months.

Been driving a Honda for 3 yrs now and the only thing i have needed to replace in that time is tyres and a battery.

Have to agree. You'll be looking at major replacement time around 100k miles.

Stick???

I remember the first time i heard that word used in reference to a car (we call a stick shift a 'manual' here) i had a picture in my head of a person holding a stick and going 'broom broom'

Think i must have laughed for an hour before a friend kindly explained what it was

Our Ford Taurus was brand new, and it was a piece of crap.
The GMC Sonoma pickup with jump seats we are trading in was not bad.
Bought it used, over 10+ years ago, and it has almost 200,000 miles on it. It's time for that one to go to the junk pile.

Sadly, hubby generally insists on buying American! So no Honda's
or any Japanese vehicles for us. I'd love a Nissan or Toyota.

Sssshhhh, he'll hear you, he just called. He stopped at the lot to look them over. He likes the Pontiac too, after all -- though he'd really like the Ford Ranger truck or the Ford F150 truck. It'll be hard to be without a truck for hauling -we've had one for over 20 years -- but to have a 'trunk' again, bliss. I don't think we'll get a divorce over disagreeing about makes and models of vehicles to purchase, but are you saying that's one of the advantages of being
single 'again'? lol :80:
