I have been the last two nights. The dreams have been so strange. I'm able to interpret most of them but this one was about my house being decorated as either a Catholic outdoor scene or maybe it was Middle Eastern. I'm confused. Anyway, I've awakened in a disoriented state and caught myself explaining about the dream with no one here.

My son does that. I often think i have been yelling or screaming in my sleep but i havent. But my son will wake up saying whatever it is he is saying in his dream.

I'm so sorry. PTSD? I rarely wake up terrified, but I did this morning. I felt like someone was right there beside me breathing and looked out my bedroom door. I expected to see a shadow approaching me. My dogs were with me and they would have barked if someone broke in.

wish I had something to keep them at bay. Dogs are a good thing to have.

Did the VA therapist not give you something for it?

You had said you were seeing two different people that one week (I think). Hope you find something to help you. I believe there's an antidepressant for PTSD. I'm on medication and the things that triggered "flashbacks" less than a year ago are no longer bothering me. Tylenol PM and some of my meds cause the strange, vivid dreams. I mostly dream about turmoil in my life.

My fiance and her mother were terrified one night because I started babbling out loudly in what sounded to be arabic.

I've woken up punching the bed.

And of course I've caught myself trying to yell.

My parnter does the same when she's having an overactive dream.

One morning it took a good half minute, upon waking, to figure out who and where I was and trying to locate a toilet so I could pee.

I got medicinal treatment from my psychiatrist and am waiting to find out if the PTSD specialist can see me one on one. There is another medicine that is prescribed for nightmares that I might be willing to try.

My brother used to sleepwalk and go to the closet thinking it was the bathroom. A guy I used to see would fall asleep on my couch. He woke up swinging if I disturbed him and almost hit me.

Alot of dreams can be influenced by things going on in the sleeper's environment (ie dreaming about a conversation that happening on the TV you left on as a night light).

Now add in time distortion where in one second of time could be five minutes dream time...

and

Just by simply trying to shake your mate awake it could've triggered a nightmare where he was being chased by something and got caught.

Hence him attempting slick Kung-Fu moves on you.
