Yeah, let's replace the progressive income tax with a much higher sales tax. Brilliant.

You obviously don't know anything about the fair tax.

I had a full time job at $9 an hour. After taxes were taken out, take home pay worked out to about $7.50/hr. Daycare is on average $5 an hour. Show me a person who can live on $2.50 an hour to pay for rent, food, clothing, and transportation.
Math is all the proof you need.

I never said anyone could live off of $2.50 an hour.

Prove to me a miniumu part time job can support a family and not nearly £700 tax free money with a house and free rent...

A minimum wage part time job cannot support a family without government subsidies. Im not too sure what your asking, but without government it is impossible. Rent, clothing, food and child care all cost alot of money.

What they need to provide is government daycare instead of handouts that way they have an encouragement to work without making it too difficult to still pay the rent.

getting back to the facts:

The chancellor has removed the lower earnings tax bracket and merged with the middle tax bracket.

This means anyone earning less than 10k a year will have to pay the same tax rate as someone earning 20k a year.

Now obviously this would cripple part-time workers, mums and dads at home who can only work school hours.

The reason the family credit and benefits for lesser incomes has been raised is so that the part-timers can claw back thier money through the benefits system.

In theory this means only genuine claimants will benefit from this. Part-time workers who have children at home. Its is a safety net to stop "cash in hand" and illegal employment.

So basically the government take our money so we can claim it back? This is a labor state, the government own you. Think communism and stretch it a little.

So to the original quote about it being a "woman's budget" and it will encourage more people on benefit this is a pile of steaming s**t, i suggest he reads more about politics. Sorry

I'm so dissalusioned politically at the moment. Why would a Labour government do things like that?

Well some argue that they have no right to take what is rightfully ours, we earned the money

Others argue that: in a country where people are complaining constantly about benefit fraud and illegal immigrants they want the government to hold a tighter reign.

One way of controlling this is to make us claim back our money. If you are working under a false insurance number you would think twice about claiming twice a year for what you have illegally earned.

If you are making a fraudulent claim, chances of getting caught are increased.

However it is pushing the benefit state. This goes back to gra** roots communism where whats ours is thiers and whats thiers is thiers. Only by playing thier game do we get what is rightfully ours in the first place.

We suffer as a result of having a convservative stronghold for so long where we are encouraged to acumulate, become property owners, privatise our companies, give money back to the people. Then putting in a labor government who basically decides to create a benefit state.

In order to keep what we accumulated in the conservative reign we have to bow down to the new benefit state that labour has pushed in.

In other words people like me who had kids in the 90's and started on the property ladder are now at the mercy of the government. I could loose everything if i did not play the game. Work the allocated hours and claim back what is mine in order to pay my mortgage.

Labor or Conservative both aim to keep the small man down.

I blame Rupart Murdoch...to be honest I think if Kinnock had got in the situation would now be different. Im not a huge fan of him to be honest, but I think 1992 would have been the perfect time for someone like Kinnock to get in and shake up British politics.

Instead im sitting here thinking I want to vote Labour, purely because their better than the Conservatives.

Kinnock was hated by everyone and ridiculed by the media, his politics was not the issue at the time. The tories had some brilliant spin doctors. The guy who died, John Smith i think his name was, he was very much liked and it was a tragic loss for the Labor party, things would have been very different if he hadnt of died.

If its any help JMO i never starved under a labor government, i did under a conservative one. The 1980's was a cruel time for the poor.

The law states that if both parents wish to have custody, and there are no legal reasons why either shouldn't then the child gets the choice.

And if the child cant choose because they are too young they favour the mother, purly because there has to be something there to break a deadlock
