If you believe in this amendment here in arkansas I hope your vote is counted. To me it is no different than standing out side Central High in 1957. It is no different than Strom Thurmonds blatent racism.
remember this vote is not about you, (unless your gay), its about someone else. Another person who wants the same "rights" as you, but thank GOD your out there pounding the streets getting signatures for a petition to deny rights to someone. I think this amendment will pass, look where we are. We are in the central most racist biased prejudiced part of the country. Its enough for me that your name will be on that list, because i believe that the petition will be a lasting reminder of a time where you voted to hold someone down, because you were afraid that in some obscure/illogical manner that a gay man's marriage to another gay man will somehow infect your marriage. Your out there making civil rights better. Be proud.

Doesn't this belong under politics? I was starting to get excited that someone had actually added a new thread in the non-political section and then...ah crap. :D

Because we need to keep it in the politics forum...For the sake of our "nonpolitical" friends who surely wouldn't want us leaking our debates over into this forum. Typically drives mods nuts too.

:x Sorry, excuse my attitude, but what just happened in the election SUCKS! We needed this to pass like I need to have another surgery, and I've had more of those than I care to remember. This whole election belonged in the garbage heap outside Sherwood. So how do we go about trying to write laws or whatever to change this bull in two years? Answers?

the answer is

NO ONE CARES.

In american we are better than Saudi Arabia because we will only hold people down legally.

No no. You can't get away from it now. That's called a Freudian slip. You didn't mean to say it, but you subconscienciously meant to say it and therefor said it. Probably in a cry for help. Help is on the way my friend.

Naw I'm just pulling your leg (in the internet electronic sort of way).

I would consider this appropriate since the gentleman/lady restarted the conversation.

so you can't hold down the moderator urges?

Heh heh, nope, guess not.

No, I'm just thinking of our fellow members who have steered clear of the political threads. I'm afraid that if they start to feel that they can't escape those topics by staying out of that area (and you know some people around here just hate politics altogether), that this will discourage them from taking part, and the last thing we need now is people leaving the site.

Just trying to think a little ahead...I know that as a forum owner and moderator of another forum, this kinda stuff drives me bonkers. But then again, maybe I'm just a rules stickler.

But we DO have this thread open in the Politics section...

So quick, someone make me a mod! :P

(By the way, the thread title is a false dichotomy...)

I respect your desire to remain on focus, i just felt a need to rant after my depression due to the election and the reemergence of this thread when someone posted to it. In short i felt obligated, as I was the culprit who started it misplaced.

False Dichotomy. hmmmmmmm.. www. dictionary.com......

I believe that was the intention.
