With drugs such as Crystal Meth which increase rather than stop ones sexual drive and capabilites, becoming increasingly popular, the amount of Drug Addicts becoming pregnant, or making people pregnant, is increasing.

Because of this many children are being born to parents who are either adicts or recovering adicts, which isn't the greatest of situations to be born into really. As loving and great as the parents may be, whilst they are adicted to drugs it remains a risk to the new babies.

A few people have suggested the idea of forcing known drug addicts to take contraceptives or putting them in methadone given out in methadone programmes. However some people are saying this is a gross violation of human rights.

Whats your opinion?

Does that mean alcholics are included in this? What about people addicted to legal drugs, such as pain killers and anti-depressants? How about spending the money trying to get people off the drugs in the first place? I dont agree with children being raised by drug addicts but I dont think this is the solution.

I completely agree that it's against our rights, but at the same time I would agree with doing it. Most parents on drugs like those never get off. Crystal Meth has one of the highest return rates, it's up around 80-90%. Those children left in homes like that are neglected, harmed, molested, raped, and even killed. When the children are taken from homes like that it become's society's responsibility to take care of them. Not only with housing, but for whatever mental problems may occur.

My best friends sister was hooked on crystal. Her and her boyfriend was making it and they left the house to go to the store with her daughter and the house blew up.
My sister works for CDS and she goes to cases such as this and others. I get the 'pleasure' of being told about the sick s**t she goes to. Like the most recent case where a mother hooked on crystal was sitting back getting high while her boyfriend sodomized her 2 boys.

To make a law like that would be the most stupid idea ever, even for a politician. The lawmaker who is this stupid may as well propose that there be a law against dogs licking their balls any day except Friday. You are incapacitated by drugs and horny--- of course the first thing you think aboput is condom use----yeah---- sure

Not contraceptives as in Condoms, but as in forcing people to take the pill.

Ditto!! and where would it stop??? how far do we go?? and who would make the decision. Last I heard forcing someone to take a drug or have a surgical procedure was against their rights, except in certain circumstances.

Let's deal with the root of the problem and quit trying to put bandages on them. JMO

yeah the contra-indications would be pretty bad for someone zonked out on heroin, i would imagine the chance of a pulmonay embolus would be higher as would heart disease and all the other nasty things that come from contraceptive pills.
