The Island by Richard Laymon.

I've never read something with such a perfect combination of sex and horror.

Best ending of a book ever.

This guy it totally f**ked up.

A million little pieces by James Frey
and
The His Dark Materials series by Phillip Pullman
(The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, The Amber spyglass)

The movie sucked though, the books are amazing

My favorite book: "The Clan Of The Cave Bear" by Jean M. Auel.
I've also read "Valley Of The Horses," "The Mammoth Hunters," and "The Plains Of Passage" by the same author.

We've read so many books, picking one will be difficult. We've read two mentioned in previous posts. Stanger in a Strange Land could be a favorite in science fiction, but we're less into science fiction now. Catcher in the Rye is a total mess of a book, but maybe that's necessary because Holden Caulfield, the narrator and main character, is such a mess. We could put it on a list of good books because it records life in New York City in the 1950's. For example, it mentions the use of radiators to heat homes. We think that's kindacool because our Grandma Dee wrote some stories that mention the use of radiators to heat homes in New York City in the 1950's. Another book that records life in New York City at about that time is On the Road by Jack Kerouac. The main character, other than the narrator, is a Caulfield-like, socially inept boy. We imagine that both may have ended life in a room talking to a fly like Norman Bates in "Phyco." Another book that records a real-life Holden Caulfield and life in New York City is Tis, a biography by Frank McCourt. McCourt reminds us a little of Caulfield, but he managed to get past the fly.

We've read several books by Dean Koontz, Intensity being his best, and as near a we can tell when we see him eating at a restaurant in Newport Beach, he looks male to us.

We like Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice as a guide on how to pick men. It has a don't-judge-a-man-by-his-cover feel about it. We know boys like Darcy. Although most don't have his money, they have his lack of manners, and we try not to make it worse like Elizabeth does with Darcy.

For example, we know a family of totally hunky boys who compete on the water-polo team. To find hunks, water polo is the place to look. The boys have a total shy gene just like Darcy, except for one brother who has physical and mental limitations, but no shyness at all.

We have worked with handicapped students at school for several years, so working with the exceptional brother came as a natural thing for us; and we have become friends with the other brothers.

Agreed, the film missed out some of what I thought were the main parts of the entire plot.
Not sure if they are planning on making a film of Eldest but I hope they do a better job if they do.

I completely agree! They really botched Eragon-the movie. the books are SO much better. My friend says the third one is called Brisingr. Any corroborations? I can't wait til' it comes out. There were some good actors in Eragon, for instance, jeremy Irons. And i think they did a
passable
imitation of the plot, but they could have done so much better. maybe if they did it in two movies, they could do better.
