42/M/somewhere in the south, German Join Date: Jun 2007 | Is the question about that people have this expectations? I do not think so. Society does this all the time: "once a doctor always a doctor", "what do you expect, he is black, yellow, rose, gay, bi, communist, decomocrat, republican, smoker, etc."
So I do not think your queston is about "what people think or expect", but maybe:
why does it matter to me that these different parts of my life do have such expectations.
For your father this is clear to me: we give a lot about our parents. About what they think and feel and we suffer their expectations. However you are only projecting the ideas and expectations of your father. Maybe his love for his child is bigger than his love for machos? Maybe not, and he is a very limited personality. But you do effectively NOT know it. Because you did not reveal yourself to him as far as I did understand. Now if this is true than it is also condemning a person without prove of the "crime", right?
But I will leave aside the parents: why does it matter to you what society says about you.......
Have a reflection about your motives. It may help a lot.
