Not sure if this has been posted before but hey. I'm too lazy to check
As I was skimming through my Whitesnake 1987 album looking at the lyrics (As one does occasionally

)
I noticed that 'tonight' was spelt like 'tonite' I know it sounds stupid but I immediatley thought 'Hey thats spelt wrong!'
I know that it is the American version of it but I couldn't escape the feeling that it was spelt wrong.
Am I the only one who feels this way? Does anyone else in either America or the UK think that the variations are spelt 'wrong'
For example:
Color (US) /Colour (UK)
Capitol (US) /Capital (UK)
Tonite (US) /Tonight (UK)
Favorite (US) /Favourite (UK)
Have I missed any variations?
Well, I've never seen "tonight" spelled as "tonite" in any book or academic source. I've only seen it spelled that way on the internet in casual chatting.
Also the US Capitol building contains the 'O', but capital letters and capitals of states and countries are spelled with the 'A'.
I've seen people from the UK spell pajamas as "pyjamas"

There's another for you.
You also say "spelt" - I say "spelled".
