Don't laugh, it's not funny!

I just read this in the metro paper.. I know it's not funny really but I couldnt help but have some funny images in my head..

PENSIONER KILLED BY A HIT & RUN MOBILITY SCOOTER

A Pensioner died after she was the victim of a hit and run involving a mobility scooter. Barbara French was crossing a road when she was run over by the buggy's woman driver..

I guess the reason I thought this was funny was obviously not becasue the poor lady died but because I was picturing someone doing a mad cap getaway on a mobility scooter that has a top speed of five miles an hour.. I mean I know our police are s***e..but c'mon!

They have a higher top speed and some people are bloody maniacs on those things!

I've stolen one of thoses in my mispent youth, they can go upto 15 miles per hour and if you got a fat bloke on it thats a good lump hitting you.

Has a twisty knob you turn to speed it up, downhill i guess he could of hit 20.

what? a mobilty scooter??? those things go like 3 miles an hour. that wouldnt even kill a cat. Hit and run?? might as well rename it nudge and calmly cruise down the street. Was it in a busy area??? i cant imagine people walking past an old lady lying in the road and not bothering to catch the batty old lady slowly edging away. That is bad of the police you could have caught her with them on pogo sticks

It's sad to be laughing at something like this, I mean, the woman did die..
But yes, I got the same damn image in my mind.

Me too mel. THe images...you dont' want to laugh at someone's death, but how can you not find the humor in someone being chased down by a scooter? And then I wonder...was it intentional? Was the mad woman on the scooter out to get this prisoner?

Reminds me of the story about the thieves who tried to get away on an electric milk float
