Sometimes when I go out with people I don't know that well, or a date, I feel really unconfortable eating in front of them. Idk why!
But when I'm around people I just don't know I take itty bitty bites and drink a lot of fluids so I don't want to eat as much.

Are you confortable eating around everyone and anyone? Or do you have to know the people you're with?

It's never been something that really bothers me, but I do become more aware of how I eat than if I was on my own or with someone I know well.

I hate eating in front of people I don't know
When I was in college, it took me months before I could even sit in the cafeteria with the others. There were these extra kitchens right next to it, and I'd usually convince one of my teachers to come and sit with me there instead, but eventually I managed to deal with it.
I'm still a bit paranoid if I go out to eat somewhere on my own, cause it feels like everyone's looking at me, but if I go out with someone I know, it's fine.

I always HATED eating out. Funny, drinking in a crowded bar with a few pals don't bother me a bit, but eating in a crowd does.

Same s*** with me. It's f***ing annoying. But then I just look at other people and see how f***ing badly they're eating and feel better since I know I'm DEFINITELY eating better than them.

No, I'm comfortable eating around pretty much anyone. Though, if its a important someone, I try to order foods that I can use a fork with instead of a burger or something where I have to use my hands.

I'm more worried about not eating enough to tell you the truth. I really can't eat a lot in one sitting and it looks like a barely make a dent in plate even though I AM eating constantly. It kinda sucks cause then the other person may think that I don't like my food when it's just that I have a small stomach and really just can't eat a lot.

It doesn't really bother me, but I have never understood why the classic date is going out and eating. Seriously, how is it romantic to eat together? Eat? Really? Of all the actual fun things you could do for a date?

I hate dinner dates.

I think it can be helpful. Like if you don't know them and you are trying to force conversation having food can break the silence a little and gives you something extra to talk about.

If it weren't for booze and food I think meeting new people would be quite difficult.

You know Kristy, I think this is a teen thing, a teen 'girl' thing specifically.

I was the exact same way at your age, thought I was alone in my feelings, and that it was definitely weird, until I spoke to my friends about it; turns out they all felt the exact same way, and we all had a laugh about it.

The good news is, you 'will' out grow it. The feelings will leave as suddenly as they came. And you will ask yourself oneday, "hey, when did that happen?"

I think eating at potlucks cures you of that in a hurry. I probably go to 2 dozen potluck/picnics per year. When you're putting a scoop of 20 different kinds of food on your plate it doesn't stay neat and, well, you eat with a lot of different people.
