I am a very stoic person and in some ways tough as nails. However, I swear at times that I need some one to comfort and care for me --- parental love. Sometimes, I imagine God wrapping me in a warm blanket and soothing me like a child.

Do you ever feel the need for this?

PS --- I really did not know where to put this post but I think it belongs here.

My girlfriend and i were having this exact conversation just last night!

We came to the realization that we both confuse sexual relationships and the need for them with the need for general affection.

Frustrating...

I get comfort when Im away from people...Just me and one other person, or just me outside, under the stars with nothing but nature...no sounds of society...Thats where I feel like a baby wrapped in a blanket.

Everything we think, do, and say is directly connected to our level of comfort. Hence the "Comfort Zone". We avoid things (to the best of our powers) that fall outside of our comfort zone. Even when we can't, we still make an assessment as to what course we'll take that will cause us the least amount of discomfort. So, not only do we all crave comfort, we live our entire lives striving to make our lives as comfortable as humanly possible. You are not alone. I can only hope that these were comforting words of wisdom for you.

Even the strongest human craves comfort. I find it when I'm alone at night with my dogs. Sometimes I just wrap myself in my sheet and blanket to cry, curled up in the fetal position. It doesn't happen often but lately, I've needed to shed the tears. I have no reason to be ashamed of it. No one else knows when I do it unless I admit it. I don't tell people this too often. My dad is always the person I think of crying out for. I feel like an adult child sometimes. It's easier to pray and fall asleep. Times like this make me so glad I have faith because I think I might not make it otherwise. My mother has told me that even my dad lies awake at night when something's on his mind. This is a man who rarely shows emotion. It's not a weakness but human nature.

I've always been that way. It explains the failed relationships in my life.

You just haven't had the right relationship. No need to blame yourself.

My old neighbor that I grew up with was like a grandmother to me. She made several quilts over my lifetime, but 8 years ago, she made me my favorite quilt of all time. 2 years ago, after a divorce, I called her and told her that I laying in bed all wrapped up in my quilt and that I felt all the love in every stitch of it. I told her it was the most comforting thing I had left. 3 days later, she passed away. Her daughter said that phone call meant the world to her.
Yes, we all need comfort, and we all need to tell those around us when they provide it, because they need comfort too.

Thanks. Firstly, I do feel the need to be loved at times. But then if I go out and look at the stars I feel lovely. For many years I never saw the sunrise. Now on weekends I wake up to see the dawn, I find that more awesome than the sunrise, though I admit going back to bed after breakfast at times.

I think there is something curative about nature (including the stars)
which we miss out as we are too involved with radio, TV and each other.

Ya, I do. I have 2 kids 14 and 9. My husband is fighting cancer and my nerves are shot. When I go see my Mom, I like it when she makes me a comfy bed...lets me sleep a bit longer. Everyone needs it once and awhile.

I am comforted by giving comfort to others. Also, there is just something comforting about having a snuggly blanket, especially if someone else cares enough to put it over you.

^I think sometimes we give what we are longing to receive. We sometimes live vicariously through others. It is not bad. Giving is good, but every now and then, we should look at what we are giving and ask ourselves if we, too, could benefit from this gift.
