Mixed race is more acceptable than half breed or half cast.

I'm guilty of using "half cast" sometimes but Angelcake's right mixed race is better.

Its just a word, say what you want, although i am sure there is a nicer way yo say half breed. Mullatto? or something like that.

There are all sorts of terms for people of mixed race. Some of them make me want to puke! I don't personally care for the term "half breed" because I always think of animals. But it's better than the woman I used to know who thought it was appropriate to teach her young grandchildren that people of mixed race are "oreos"

Mixed Race is a lot better than a Half Breed. but I know quite a few people that use that term.

Half breed sounds sorta insulting. Half caste seems to have a negative image around it nowadays (Of course, those who complain about the term are usually white middle cla** men).
I just say mixed race if pushed, but I don't really notice enough to comment or care - got a shedload of mixed race/half caste relatives anyway

i wouldn't like to be referred to as a half-breed.

its a term used for animals, specifically for pedigree dogs where purity is an issue, so a half-breed would be a negative expression, for this reason its been used in the past as a derogatory term for someone of mixed ethnicity.

the fact that it has that basis would for me put it off my list of ok phrases to use,
but the power of words comes only from their intent and the emotion behind them, to some people it mightn't be offensive.

i personally dont use half cast or breed i find them both offensive
cos 9 times out of tem it not half of anything

most ppl have blood from ppl all around the world in then whether it be mexican, irish, greek etc
